About.

/ Sobre mí.

Hello, I am a web developer based in Buga, Colombia.

I am Fabián Andrés Parra Sánchez. I began my tech learning journey on digital platforms almost two years ago, and complemented it by joining a bootcamp (Henry) in June of 2022. It's an incredible community with people willing to support each other, and I have found more individuals with the same passion for this work.

Programming has been one of my hobbies for many years. I always worked on small projects for the web in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, as well as in C#, inspired by the indie game market, until I decided to start my journey as a web developer in a bootcamp and take this hobby to the next level. Now, I am making this wonderful world my new professional path, with the unconditional support of my family, especially my wife.

I have decided to focus my career on frontend development. I love working on the visual aspect of web applications and I am fascinated by the latest trends in design and usability. My goal is to create attractive and functional interfaces that offer an excellent user experience.

Tech Skills

Although my first steps as a programmer were in languages like C and C#, nowadays I stand out as a web developer, using HTML, CSS, and Javascript libraries such as React JS. The following chart shows the technologies that I have focused on learning the most in the past year.

Frontend / Backend

NextJS / ReactJS / Redux Toolkit / RTK Query

Material UI / Next UI / Tailwind CSS

Strapi / Express JS / Node JS / Sequelize

PostgreSQL / MongoDB / Firebase

Soft Skills

These are the skills I have acquired over the years in my past jobs. I have had the opportunity to work in companies in the construction sector in various areas, such as field operations, administration, and leading work groups. This has allowed me to put into practice different soft skills applied to the work area.

Awards.

/ Premios.

This recognition was awarded to me by the Gentleman Programming staff for my active participation in the 2022 Hackathon, as recognition for my effort.

After starting with a team of 6 members divided into two groups with the goal of developing an application for the Gentleman Programming Hackathon focused on job searches, we divided the tasks into frontend and backend, where we had to meet different requirements within a maximum of 42 hours. At first, we all started off very well, motivated and working together, but as time passed, some members left, others became demotivated and the team gradually became disorganized. On the last day, some members did not show up, which was very demotivating for me. However, since I had committed to participating, I felt that I had to move forward and respect that commitment. In the end, I decided to focus on the main features required by the event and created an app that met the minimum requirements, using some of the code my team members had left behind and adapting others in my own way.

Special thanks to the Gentleman Programming team and Mr. Alan Buscaglia for the opportunity.
